i dont really understand the need to charge expensive prices towards international cars coming into Malaysia....i mean i know that it is done so to promote the sales of local cars but seriously i think this is so beyond comprehension..why the need to charge really expensive prices?Malaysian buy local cars because they have to..sorry that is so off...FORCED TO...buy local cars because the imported cars are so expensive....they cant afford it with they current salary.. and trust me living in kl isnt cheap....but in reality the local cars quality are like rubbish...i know cuz i drive a local car...and i bang into someone a few month ago and guess what..the damaged to my car is so bad compare to the Hyundai car that i bang which has a small dent..so small that i thought i didnt hit the car...but my car has the front bumper wedge out like the top of a sardine can after u open it..and another incident which i saw a Perdana hit a Vios..the perdana was like a crush can but the vios was like a person saying what happened here cuz it was undented...which cause you to think the quality and most important of all the safety level of the car...i mean my parent pay nearly 60k for my car but it is nearly the same price for a Jazz in thailand and australia...and honda has won numerous safety award...so again why?...why should we use low quality, crudely made local car when we SHOULD have opt for a better imported cars...i mean i dont mind buying local cars but with that kind of quality and god knows the safety level...who is willing to buy it as it is expensive but not up to its quality(we buy it cause there is no other choice)..so please make imported cars cheaper or make local cars better...way way way better...

get real man, if the government isn't charging us a premium when buying foreign cars, but of course people won't be buying proton or other locally produced or badged cars. malaysians like you are defeatists since you're not even supporting cars produced locally. don't you think if the government isn't charging us a premium when buying local cars, they will look for other sources of income ? don't you think that the government will charge us other forms of tax ? do you want to have cheap foreign cars, but have to live paying absurdly high amount of tax for things that you think ought not to be taxed ? i suppose maybe you don't. be proud of your local industry. be a little more patriotic. if we don't support our own products, who will ? local car producers provide jobs for thousands of locals. if you think that local car producers are producing using local technology, most of them are not so. Maybe proton is moving towards producing their cars in-house, but others are not yet moving toward such a move. producers like perodua and naza are only utilizing toyota and daihatsu, and, kia and peugeot technologies, respectively. perodua only rebadge the cars that they are selling to malaysians. perodua nautica is actually a cbu based entirely on daihatsu terios. the new perodua mpv i heard will also be brought from nippon. myvi is actually a toyota, known as passo and rebadged as if it has been developed entirely in malaysia. naza bestari is a peugeot 206 and naza ria is kia carnival. naza rondo is actually an upgrade of kia carens. you see ? if you're so into driving foreign cars, might i suggest that you buy the cars that i mentioned above, since they're are cheap and not 100% local. even toyota, honda, kia and other foreign cars have got problems you see, only that their problems are not exaggerated by people but with proton, if the cars have occasional problem, the company is instantly labelled as a low quality car producer. malaysians like you are fuelling such sentiments, making proton look as if the company has got no credibility. i must admit that proton has got a long list of improvements to make in their cars, but that doesn't mean that the company deserves to be shunned by malaysians. the current proton md is a former toyota guy and good things have been seen from him. let's just see how proton is going to do in the future. support your local products, tone down your defeatist comments a little. don't shout out for cheaper car prices if you don't want to be heavily taxed in other aspects of your life. get wise. =)
